At my heaviest I weighed 149.9 kg (330 lb). My body never wanted to be that size.
I cleared the emotional crap and the trauma, and my body did the rest. The weight melted away. Today I'm about 93 kg (205 lb).
I tracked every day while it happened. I was paying a monthly subscription for one of the big-name calorie apps, and it ignored me. It felt like a dietitian wrote it, built to put you on a diet, not to help you become someone new.
So I built my own, laid out exactly the way I wanted it.
My body did the work. MACRO kept score.
Now you can have it too.

NowMost trackers add up numbers and leave the thinking to you. MACRO's built-in Insights study your log and your weigh-ins, and tell you what's really going on with your body. It's clever maths that runs on your phone. No AI, and nothing sent to the internet.
How much you can actually eat to hold your weight, worked out from your own log and weigh-ins, not a generic formula. It even tells you how confident it is.
Your trend weight filters out the daily swings from salt, carbs and hormones, so one bad weigh-in doesn't derail you.
Notices when food might be slipping through unlogged: the oil in the pan, the sauce, the glass of wine. A gentle heads-up, never a lecture.
Shows how much energy your body is drawing from its own stores each day, or putting away.
Set a goal and it tells you roughly when you'll reach it at the pace you're going.
Checks your protein against what helps keep muscle while you lose fat, and shows whether weekends are undoing your weekdays.
MACRO never connects to any AI. But if you'd like a second opinion, one tap copies what's needed so you can paste it into ChatGPT or Gemini (both free) yourself. Nothing is shared unless you paste it.
On the Insights screen, tap Ask AI about my food. MACRO copies a short summary of your last six months and opens the AI. Paste, send, then ask anything:
Eating out? Snap your plate. Tap Estimate from a photo, attach the picture in your AI and paste. Copy its answer, tap Paste AI result, and the calories and macros fill in for you.
Photo estimates are rough (hidden oils are hard to see), but far better than not logging at all.
Every button in MACRO is there because I needed it. Nothing was added because a meeting decided it would sell.
I use it every day. When something bugs me, I fix it, and that update is yours too, free, for life.
No meal plans and no lectures. MACRO shows you honestly what you're eating, so you can make your own calls.
Track calories, protein, carbs and fat without the fuss. No endless menus, no tech skills needed.
Your favourite foods sit on the home screen as big buttons. Tap to log it. Hold to change the amount.
One calorie bar, plus protein, carbs and fat against your own targets. You'll know where you're at in a second.
Over 12,000 Australian foods and supermarket products: porterhouse, capsicum, rockmelon, a flat white, a Tim Tam. Label in kilojoules? Tap kJ and MACRO converts it for you.
See each day against your goals, and track your weight and measurements as you go.
No account and no ads. Your food diary stays on your phone. An optional email backup keeps it safe if you change phones.
Most calorie apps charge you every year, forever, for the basics. MACRO is a one-off $20, and every update is included. Try the whole thing free for 21 days first, so you know exactly what you're getting.
MACRO opens straight away in your phone's browser. Nothing to download.
It then sits with your other apps and opens like one. See below for how.
Pick your usual foods once. From then on, logging is one tap.
I do. I'm the person behind Discernable. There's no company behind it, no dev team and no focus groups. I use it every day, and when something bugs me, I fix it. Every update is yours free.
No. There's no app store involved. MACRO opens from a link and then lives on your home screen like any other app.
Yes. That's exactly who it's built for. Your usual foods become big buttons, and you tap one when you eat it. If you can send a text, you can use MACRO.
Everything you've logged stays right where it is. To keep logging, buy MACRO for $20 and your unlock code arrives by email. It's yours for life, with every update included.
Your food diary is kept on your phone, not in an account somewhere. There are no ads and nothing is sold. If you turn on the optional email backup, a copy is stored securely so you can restore it if you lose or change your phone.
Turn on the email backup and you can bring everything across to your new phone.
MACRO tracks calories plus protein, carbs and fat. Reading an Australian label in kilojoules? Tap the kJ button when you add a food and MACRO converts it for you. The food list is Australian, so you'll find capsicum and rockmelon, not bell peppers and cantaloupe.
No. There's no AI inside MACRO, and it never connects to one. Insights are clever maths that run entirely on your phone.
If you'd like, two optional buttons hand things over to your own ChatGPT or Gemini: Ask AI about my food and Estimate from a photo. MACRO copies the text, and nothing is shared unless you paste it in yourself. Like any chat, the AI app may keep that conversation.
No. MACRO won't put you on a plan or tell you what you're allowed to eat. It shows you what you're actually eating, honestly, so you can make your own calls.
No. Lots of people use it to eat more protein, keep an eye on portions, or understand why the scale is doing what it's doing. There's also optional cycle tracking that helps explain weight swings across the month.

No card, no account, nothing to download. If you love it, it's $20, once.
